An Update from the Chairs of CivicAction and CivicAction Leadership Foundation

News Releases
January 24, 2020

As you would be aware from our announcement in December, Sevaun Palvetzian will be stepping down as CEO at the end of January to pursue a new leadership opportunity.

While the Board is sad to see Sevaun leave, we are grateful for the tremendous contributions she has made to CivicAction over her six-year tenure and wish her the very best in the next chapter of her career.

CivicAction’s Board has already begun the recruitment process, and will be working with a search firm to conduct an internal and external search. Tamara Balan, who is currently the Chief Operating Officer and has been with CivicAction for over ten years, will step in as interim CEO on February 1, 2020 until the permanent CEO is appointed.

As we enter a new decade, the Board, CivicAction Management and the entire team remain committed and energized by our shared purpose to boost civic engagement and build better cities as our work continues.

We look forward to continuing to collaborate with you to create positive change in our region.

Zabeen Hirji
Chair, CivicAction
